Summer LAWN TREATMENTS

Summer is the time when we enjoy our lawns the most.

Our lawn treatments applied over the Summer months is a continuation of our overall ethical approach to 'feeding' the lawn and we are again very careful with the calibration of Nitrogen applied. Our special soil conditioner is also applied with this treatment and any weeds treated.

Two of the most important aspects of lawn care in the Summer are cutting and watering. Cutting the grass at least once per week produces the best results as it allows you to adhere to the fundamental principles of cutting often and taking off little and never cutting more than a 1/3 off the plant at any one time.

Irregular cutting will result in a large part of the grass blade being removed and leaving little surface area to absorb energy from the Sun to produce chlorophyll and the plant turns brown or yellow from 'cut stress'.

Watering the lawn if necessary during dry spells, should be done infrequently but heavily. The old measure of 'heavily' would be filling a tuna tin, set at the end of a sprinkler arch - once the tin is full you can move the sprinkler. Given that modern water pressure is consistent that would equate to about 15-20 minutes before moving the sprinkler.

If your lawn starts to show signs of 'dry patch' the you should contact us immediately as it can turn soil hydrophobic which is a very serious condition that requires a wetting agent application.

We offer a specialist soil test analysis and if you have this, it enables us to be exact with our application of nutrients and the reports, which you will receive, allow you to identify change and evaluate progress.
